1:1 mentoring · James Rial (Audiojack)

Develop your knowledge and skills with Audiojack

Since 2020 I have been coaching artists and music producers one on one across a wide range of styles and genres — whether they're just starting out or already well established and releasing music.

Since 2020

From first beat to getting signed

I have helped lots of artists from getting into their creative hobbies right through to getting signed and mentoring them as they begin their careers.

Specialising in Ableton Live, but working with people using any DAW or music software. I teach all aspects of music production, from how to make your first beat to adding that 5% of finesse to take your music to a professional level.

What does a mentor do?

  • Giving feedback on your tracks
  • Sitting in and helping improve your own music projects in your DAW
  • Composition, arranging, mixing and mastering techniques
  • You provide music examples and I teach you how it’s made
  • Deep dive into how an Audiojack track was made
  • How to research labels, send demos or understand contracts
  • Sharing general music industry experience and insight
  • Or anything you think I can help with

How do the sessions work?

Buy credit, book a call, keep it forever

Online over Zoom

Coaching is done online and can be recorded for you to keep and watch again. Sessions run from 30 minutes up to 3 hours.

Credit never expires

Buy time credit before you book. If you buy an hour you can use 30 minutes a week later and the other 30 minutes after 10 months.

No extra cost

Finished a track after a session? Send a link by email and I’ll take a quick listen and reply. Stuck on something? Drop me a message and I’ll help as soon as I can.

Personal touch

Answers that are actually about your music

If you have a mentor, you get instant answers to your questions — and they will be bespoke for you and your music.

The extra value comes from someone with years of experience who can make suggestions and give you knowledge you didn't even know you wanted or needed.

As a mentor I sit in during the production process and guide you as you work.

Getting signed

Make music for pleasure — or for a career

Maybe you just want to make music for pleasure. I really believe everyone should give that a go.

If you want to get your music signed to a record label and try to make a career out of music, I can help.

How I can help

  • I can teach you how to get your tracks demo ready
  • How to research the right labels for you
  • What format you need to send the demos
  • An email template for your submission
  • Use my contacts to get your demos to the right people

Making music then vs now

Too many videos, not enough answers

When I started making music seriously back in the early 00s I would often get stuck not knowing how to do something technical.

Back then the only resource available was to go onto a message board, explain my problem and sometimes wait until the next day for an answer. It took forever.

Nowadays you can look up what you want on YouTube or somewhere else online and get instant results. The issue now is that there are so many videos out there that it can be difficult to actually find what you're looking for — and you end up wasting a lot of time.
